Ben Wong

Ben is an MD/PhD student (Class of 2031) at CUSOM. Ben grew up in New York City and attended Bowdoin College, where he majored in Neuroscience and Environmental Studies, completing an undergraduate Honors thesis on peptide neuromodulation of the American lobster stomatogastric nervous system and captaining the Men’s Track & Field team. After college, he worked for three years studying innate immunity in inflammatory bowel disease at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles under Dr. Andrea Wolf. He joined the CU Medical Scientist Training Program in 2023 and is currently pursuing his PhD with Drs. Daniel Kramer and Daniel Denman, studying executive function in the human dorsolateral prefrontal cortex. This project entails using Neuropixels, a high-density electrophysiology probe, to record data from the brains of awake Parkinson’s disease patients during deep brain stimulation surgery. Outside of school, Ben enjoys skiing, hiking, any other kind of sporting activity, supporting the New York Knicks and Green Bay Packers, and trying fun and interesting foods!
